Copper, Brass Trees

This artist began learning blacksmithing in the early 1970’s. After working in black iron for several years, he began integrating other metals into his work. He has worked exclusively with non-ferrous metals such as copper and brass. The green on his pieces is a natural patina created by oxidizing the copper with an acid. The red colors are achieved by heating the copper until the metal is red-hot, and then it is quenched in room temperature water. Custom work..? Yes!
